Carbon Footprint Measurement With Ekos: Low Cost & Simple
Some Ekos carbon certifications require your business to measure its carbon footprint. The carbon footprint for many businesses is simply the fossil fuel component of energy consumption and is calculated in tonnes of CO2.
Once you know your carbon footprint, you then know how many carbon offsets you need to buy to make a carbon-related claim - like Ekos Carbon Neutral. For example, if your annual carbon footprint was 35 tCO2, you will need to buy 35 tCO2 of carbon offsets to neutralize that footprint and qualify for an Ekos Carbon Neutral certificate.
Carbon footprint measurement need not be particularly onerous - it can be as simple as extracting the kilowatt hour component of your electricity bills, flight details (routes and passengers), and fleet or rental vehicle information (e.g. fuel bills for your fleet, or rental contracts for rental vehicles).
Depending on the size and complexity of your business, you can complete carbon footprint measurement for as little as $500-$800 with Ekos.
